I love hanging out with family and friends, the outdoors, hot chocolate, wool socks, snow, making snow angels, reading great books, sitting by fires, backpacking, jeans that fit just right, soaking in hot springs, good massages, great food, great beer, laughing so hard it hurts, running around barefoot on summer days, thunderstorms, photography, bicycle rides, cicadas electric in the heat of the day, farmer's markets, small towns, nice people, and you know - just living life.
What kind of underwear do you wear?
"Bigger busted ladies: what brand of bra do you use?"
"Please friends- I need help with recipes!!"
I'm not sure if I have a favorite - I'll listen to just about everything.
I don't care a lot for rap or hardcore heavy metal.
I've broken so many toes it isn't even funny. Typically, I snag them on a chair and they tweak outwards. That leaves me limping and/or on crutches for awhile. I never realized how vital our toes are until I broke one.
Last week, I fell UP the stairs. Two times. No injuries thankfully, but it goes to show just how graceful I am.
One winter, I was out skijoring with the dogs when the neighbors happened to let their dogs out to piss right as I was being towed by. My dogs made a 90-degree turn and I was immediately on the ground with a messed up knee. My coworker even drew a cartoon mocking me because I had to explain to everyone why I couldn't walk normal. I still have it.
When I was pregnant with my first child, I ended up with a pregnancy tumor on my forehead. If I even looked at it funny, it would burst open and bleed everywhere like I had just taken a bullet to the head. I was trying on a sweater at Old Navy once and the seam of the sweater brushed against it, causing it to break open and bleed. I had to rush out of the dressing room and ask the attendant for some napkins or something so I wouldn't ruin the clothing. She was (rightfully) horrified. I got that shit cauterized that week.
Rustic - log cabin vibe.
The last house we owned was a funky contemporary, so I was able to decorate how I wanted.
The home we have now though is a Frank Lloyd Wright style home that was built in the '50's. It's lovely, but I wish I had a lot of money to go crazy decorating/furnishing it. Contemporary style all the way!
@slappy & @kdiggs - our basement is wood paneled. Thankfully, none of the prior owners have painted over the wood!
Me: "B, stop throwing things!!"
B: "I'm NOT! I'm helping it fly!"
Once a week. I have a Camelbak and it gets chucked in the dishwasher over the weekend. Then it goes back to work with me on Monday.
2 adults + 2 kids = 10 loads a week on average
2 loads to wash the nap mats for daycare
1 load of whites
2 loads of darks
1 load of jeans
1 load of residual darks and the blankies for daycare
1 load of delicates
1 load of towels
1 load of bedding
Every now and then I get motivated and wash all the sheets in the house or all the towels. And about once a month I wash bibs and dishtowels.
Yeah, I could do it. I already don't wear make-up. I shave maybe once a week. I certainly don't primp - aside from plucking a few eyebrow hairs to keep the unibrow from growing in fully. It would be nice to comb my hair, but I think I could manage just by running my fingers through it.
Yup, I could do it no prob. Even the "no deoderant" doesn't phase me.
I think it's akin to giving up your seat to an elderly person (or a pregnant person). It's just good manners. I think it's nice they have them. And this is me saying this with two pregnancies under my belt and two young children and I have never used one of these spaces even though they have been available to me.
I can see where they would be incredibly useful to a lot of women with young children. Getting out of the house with a new baby is difficult enough. Lugging a carseat halfway across a parking lot is not fun!
And if you get all up in arms over something this trivial, than it's time for you to take a vacation.
I tend to park at the end of the lot and grab a cart on my walk in to the store. Then, when I'm headed back to my car, I push the cart super fast and jump on the back and ride it the whole way back to the car. The kids love it! (So do I). And people watching get a good laugh.
Yeah, I thought the slackliner was cool. That is tough! He stole the show!
That was Madonna? Wow. I didn't recognize her.
Did she fall off the bleachers? Because that's what it looked like to me.
Wow. That made my eyes leak.
@chinacatamy = china-ectomy, or the surgical removal of one's china.
Skin flute?
Sorry.
I'll even say it under my breath if the person is too far away and I don't want to raise my voice. Doesn't make sense, but there's always a part of me that thinks something bad might happen to them if somebody doesn't say it.
I think I'm unwell.
When my lips get that bad, I usually don't even bother with lip balms (which I swear make it worse...call me crazy). I rub straight Vit-E oil on my lips (can get it at health food stores) or I put vaseline or aquafor on them. I only use lip balm for maintenance when they're just a little dry.
This is tricky because it all depends on where the pain is and when it's happening. Most likely it is runner's knee or an IT band issue. It sounds like runner's knee to me:
http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-241-...
But don't take my word for it - if it keeps happening try to see a doctor or a PT. Is the pain on the outside/top/bottom/inside of the kneecap?
If it's IT problems, I'm afraid the solution is to run less. As soon as the pain starts, you need to stop. (I learned this the hard way) But I would say first to try to ice them after your runs and see if that helps first.
I don't think your shoes are dead. You should be able to get at least 300 miles out of a good pair (sometimes up to 500). BUT, the insoles that come in typical running shoes are just thin pieces of crap foam. Do you have insoles for your shoes? Many people think their shoes are shot, when in reality it's the crap foam insole breaking down. There are many different insoles out there, at varying prices. I personally use the Superfeet brand ones (the green ones, for my high arches) and I've had the same pair for 3 years now (I just move them into different running shoes when I get new shoes). I also really like the pink Superfeet insoles, they are nice and cushy and are supposedly made for women's running shoes. You can also get custom insoles that are molded to your foot - but expect to pay a lot for them (like $75 and up).
I also agree with the strength training. It's important to strength your muscles and correct imbalances.
In saying that, I've run a good bit over the last 5 years (I do about 20-25 miles a week now) and I still occasionally get ankle pain. Even though I work at it, I still have weak ankles.
You also might want to try KT Tape. It really works - and you can buy it at any sporting goods store. Here's the demo video for how to tape for runner's knee:

I will do it. Putting it in my calendar now.
How fun would it be if we could have a beer/wine exchange??
I hope posting short romantic novels in threads doesn't become a trend. Cuz I'm over that already.
I am.
My brother's life was saved thanks to a bone marrow donor.
