When P Diddy was still Puff Daddy, he and all his posse partied at the music producers apartment next door to my apartment.
I had a newborn at the time, OMG the producer neighbor worked from home a lot, and had a party every night of the week, he called it clients visiting!
I called it a mad house of people coming and going 24/7 keeping us awake and stoned from the second hand smoke.
Thankfully they all got much richer and more famous and moved away.
@PLK,
That question is important.
"Why do you consider yourself ethnically or culturally diverse?"
I find that uncomplicated and easy to answer as a Jew.
This is an important question.
.
If I was Black or Latina I would definitely reveal my race.
Saw them being sold at Costco yesterday. Priced about $68.00

Be mindful of how you view a developing child that is testing the world. Not all behaviour needs "punishment" sometimes you need to view it as teachable moment, and sit down and talk to them about lies.

Over medicating kids, this is such an old tired debate.
Depression exists.
It is inherited.
It is also situational.
As a parent you must treat depression.
Medication is one way.
Use of alternative modalities, food, herbs, environment etc also can work.
Child and family therapy is helpful.
But don't let your child suffer endlessly.
~~~
A completely different problem for overmedication in kids is schools unrealistic expectations of young children ("leave no child behind" bullshit that Obama refuses to get rid of continues not working).
Academic demands on young children have become out of sync with the normal varied development of kids.
Kids need to learn in a variety of ways, including play, not sitting at a desk doing academics when they are 5 years old.
Most of their school day is filled with learning to prepare them for taking bubble tests. This is Insanity!
As a adult I'd need to be medicated if I had to spend seven hours a day for 12 years preparing for bubble tests!
Don't fear, be the parent you need to be to your child!
Yes.
Yes.
However, I have AAA and take my car to the mechenic to get oil change.
I usually wear clothes too nice to want to change a tire.
poor NJ
I feel bad for you, NJ has such a bad rep.
I can see the green hills in the different neighborhoods from my terrace, I'm in Manhattan, face west on a high floor by the river.
It has some spectacularly beautiful neighborhoods, great schools (i'm told) and i go there for no tax shopping!
Born and breed in NYC!
Live in Manhattan.
People think New Yorkers are unfriendly, this is not true.
We randomly chat with everyone, usually we are complaining and commiserating freely with strangers at all times in all public!
We are not in cars, most don't own one, so we actually talk to each other. We talk to the tourists because we are proud of NYC.
That is if we are not rushing somewhere.
We do walk faster than most!
I live in NJ. I almost feel like I don't have to say anything else. :-)
@Monday - I never said I only wanted a newborn, and how can you say that I don't sound realistic about adoption with only reading a single question? It sounds like you have had a different experience than most who have responded. I appreciate you sharing, but please don't judge me based on my request for some personal insights.
My decision to adopt is not final, and that's why I asked the question. Reading about people's experiences is the first step in what I know will be a very long and emotional process. I'm only in the research stage and am looking at every possible option - international, domestic, foster, older children, younger children and children with special needs. Adoption is something that has always been in my heart because I know that I have a loving home to offer someone who wasn't lucky enough to be born into that environment.
Thank you to everyone who has shared. I really appreciate it and look forward to reading more responses.
I love Bumble and Bumble's coconut shampoo. If I could, I would eat it. It being pricey, I stick to the cheap stuff mostly and use a deep conditioner that smells minty. I do love a few Japanese brands but I'd assume they are hard to find in Utah.
