McDonald's sausage biscuits when the biscuit is fresh are like crack. Just the sausage patty on a biscuit. And a diet Coke. I don't go to McDonald's for any other reason.
We don't have In 'n Out here so we usually hit the closest one when we fly to California to visit the in-laws. We have a Five Guys which is good plus they have Cherry Coke.
Other than that, I cook and my husband loves leftovers. He disdains his coworkers who go for fast food every day at lunchtime.
Chick-Fil-A was up until recently available on the campus where I work. This is a liberal arts college and for the time that its presence was maintained, there were loud cries of outrage due to their purported views on the LGBT community.

HGTV - had never watched it before. Saw Dooce mention it somewhere and have been addicted for months now. Don't watch anything else. Would abandon my fabulous life for Mike Holmes if he'd just wink at me. Haven't watched American Idol for the past 3 seasons and DWTS lost me with Kate Gosselin as a participant.
Oh, and Haagen Dazs Rocky Road ice cream - something about that marshmallow swirl instead of whole marshmallows. But if Baskin Robbins resurrected Coconut Almond Fudge, I'd drop the Rocky Road like a hot rock. And why isn't there a Black Walnut ice cream available?
I'm spent.
I'm Easy by Keith Carradine - now before the snickering starts, google the lyrics.
We danced to "At Last" and the DJ said "Wow, I don't have that one in my collection". I had to go to my car to get it out of my CDs.
Here's a source for cloth diapers from my former home town:
I worked at a winery for 14 years. I began with white zinfandel, the training bra of wines, and moved my way up from there. Pinot Noir was a fave for a long time - also Chardonnay or any sparkling wine. Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame champagne - or Roederer Anderson Valley sparkling - can only be champagne if made in that region of France. I've sipped Cristal at Auberge du Soleil with members of the Mondavi family - not impressed by the Cristal, was impressed by the view.
For years, I have loved one wine that I can find only in Italy, Quintarelli Valpolicella - I drink it every time I'm in Verona.
If you want cute, how about Cupcake Vineyards? A nice low alcohol pink bubbly is Cerdon du Bugey.
All that matters is whether you like it - not price, not name, not anything else.
I always take it back, always. I have to live with myself and if I didn't pay for it, it's not mine.
Some years ago I lost a pair of $800 18K gold earrings (purchased at a time in my life when I had far too much money - ah, the good old days). I bought them at David's Jewelry store in St. Helena, CA. This store is fabulous, BTW.
So there I am, earrings gone, wondering what in tarnation do I do. A few weeks later, my daughter's car was broken into and she needed to file a claim against my homeowners insurance. I suggest that we say my earrings were in the glove compartment and I get reimbursement.
Some months after this, I have yet to replace the earrings, I still have my insurance money, and a light bulb goes off over my head - I check the glove compartment of MY car and there are my earrings, snug in their suede jeweler's pouch.
So would you return the money or would you keep it?
I made a beeline back to my insurance company to return the money. They were stunned. They said no one had ever done that.
I felt bad enough about the insurance claim even though the earrings were missing and I wasn't hoodwinking the company for something I still possessed.
What kind of example do I set for my children? How do I want to live my life so that my karma is good? Your life is your life - if you choose to keep things that you haven't paid for or that don't belong to you, that's up to you and your life's karma.
For me, it's not right. I have incredibly good parking karma by the way; just wish I had incredibly good lottery karma.
When I was into the birthing of babies, I saved up my sick leave and was out for 8 weeks on paid leave for each (4 years apart). I worked up until the day each was born, both born on Saturdays...well, actually, the first one put me in the hospital the Wednesday before she was born when I went in for a routine OB appointment and I had high blood pressure.
I work in higher education now and have a woman on staff who had her baby last May. She was out for 6 months, 2 months of that was paid leave and the rest working from home, coming in after hours to do whatever office work was needed. She is currently working from home 2 days a week and in the office 3 days a week. That will last until the baby is a year old.
Loved Craig Ferguson's autobio "American on Purpose" - starts off with he and his future wife giggling about being able to see Laura Bush's flowered bloomers (passion killers) and gets better.
David Leibowitz "Living the Sweet Life in Paris"
Molly Wizenberg "A Homemade Life"
One book I cannot abide is that Pray, Eat, Love or whatever it is called - I gave up after she left Italy. She seemed to be quite the whiner.
